ICS AK74M March 11, 2006
(Visited 7407 times)
I Chih Shivan Enterprise Co., Ltd. or ICS has thrown a 4-part gearbox into the AK74M. Each part; trigger assembly, motor section, piston assembly, and gear section can all be detached from each other which can make for quick part swaps if you’ve got a broken piece rattling around in there somewhere.

Classic Army CA33E: A Love Story in the Making February 3, 2006
(Visited 6705 times)The first time I laid my eyes on an image of the CA33E, I knew deep down that I had to have one.

Let me give you a backgrounder. You see, during those days, I was still lingering in that “love-hate” stage with my CA MP5A4. It’s that certain stage in an airsoft relationship when you get to know your gun well enough to be able to take its quirks with the “here-we-go-again” attitude, but you start longingly gazing at your teammate’s new, shiny AEG and having dirty thoughts of holding it by your side as you sleep… It was in this juncture of my relationship with “El Gato Negro” (my MP5) that I “accidentally” stumbled upon a review of the CA33E. There it was, right before my eyes, sleek, seductive, calling out my name. I could not find any valid excuse that would ruin its reputation in my eyes. For days I searched and trawled through the net, hoping to find a major fault, a flaw in its manufacturing, a sob story involving the CA33E. All I found were little kinks, minor, acceptable, liveable with. (more…)
Tokyo Marui MP7A1: 6 Days to the Compact Big Bang February 2, 2006
(Visited 15043 times)Six days to go before Tokyo Marui releases to the world its new airsoft technological wonder, the MP7A1.

The Real Steel HK MP7A1 PDW (Personal Defense Weapon) was introduced by Heckler & Koch back in 2001 as a replacement for the military pistol, which is, ultimately, the original purpose of a PDW. It sports a “big bang” for the buck, as its 4.6×30mm hardened-steel-core FMJ (full metal jacket) round can penetrate 22 layers of Kevlar or a Kevlar helmet at 50 yards. It will also reportedly penetrate NATO CRISAT body armor with no trouble, at this distance. Coupled with this strength is its portability, especially the fact that it can be carried in a specially designed hip holster, much like a regular pistol could.

Where to Shop in Hong Kong
(Visited 9769 times)When airsoft shopping in Hong Kong, follow this advice from menatarms over at Arnies Airsoft:
You need look no further than what I termed “Airsoft Central” (not to be confused with “Central” or financial district/downtown on Hong Kong island) located in “Mongkok” district on the Kowloon Peninsula. To get there take the MTR metro and exit “E” and get on to “Sai Yeung Choi” Street. Head towards “Dundas” street, then to “Gwan Wah” street. On Gwan Wah street you will have located “Guns & Guys”, “DenTrinity”, and “Tokyo Model”. Locat at No.1 Gwan Wah Street ground floor of the building, you will find more shops, including Modern Model Company and WAR4. On Dundas Street there is also ARM FORCES shop. Might I suggest lunch or a snack at BOOM ARMS CAFE, an Airsoft themed restaurant that also sells guns & accessories. UNCompany is located on Wan Chai street in “Wan Chai” district on Hong Kong island side; it’s a little out of the way AFA being located away from the rest of the AS shops, but you can take the MTR to Wan Chai and get on to Wan Chai street (you may wanna call first for directions from MTR as it is bit of a walk).
KJ Works M700 Takedown Review January 22, 2006
(Visited 7617 times)
How does the KJ Works M700 compare with the Tanaka Works M700? If price is a big factor, airsoft snipers will be wise to go with this baby. At US$200.00, the KJ Works version is a sniper rifle worth considering even without TW’s patented Power Control System (PCS).
KJ’s M700 series is actually a clone on Tanaka’s products and marketed with a much lower price. Currently all Tanaka’s sniper rifles included the pressure control system (PCS) for adjusting the amount of air flow and the fire power. KJ’s M700 series adopted the last generation of TW’s product, which are those without the PCS. Build materials and design are more or less the same, and, fortunately or unfortunately, BB magazines between KJ and TW are not interchangeable.

Airsoft Pranks in Schools
(Visited 988 times)Yet another piece of bad publicity for our beloved sport. The student in question obviously wasn’t smart enough to know that with authorities a little tight because of the Florida shooting incident, any stupid stunt would likely warrant a similar response from authorities. He’s lucky to be alive.
A 17-year-old Forks High School student with a toy handgun prompted a 15-minute school-wide lockdown in Forks on Wednesday.
The male student allegedly aimed and fired a spring airsoft gun containing plastic projectiles at several friends in the high school parking lot, according to the Forks Police Department.
The student was being held Thursday at the Clallam County Juvenile Detention Center in Port Angeles, and law enforcement officials are considering possible criminal charges.
“Toy guns that look real at schools . . . is not funny, and it is not a game,'’ Forks Police Chief Mike Powell said in a press release.
“Serious and deadly consequences can result in this type of activity.'’
New UTG Guns Under Development
(Visited 5154 times)Airsoft Atlanta has the lowdown on the next generation of UTG guns to be released in 2006:
I thought I would give you an update on what’s going on behind the scenes at UTG. Keep in mind that the products are not yet in production, but will give you an idea of what’s around the corner.
As for AEGs, they are working on their version of the AK Beta. This is the AK with the black furniture and the shortened frontend. It also looks like they will be releasing a new MP5A4 model with a flashlight foreend and a G3 SAS clone with a fullstock. There also appears to be a UTG AEP on the horizon as well - an electric USP model. We are looking forward to reviewing each of the new guns as they become available.
On the springer side of things, it looks like UTG will release a spring version of both the AK47 and the AK Beta. And they will also be releasing an extended magazine for the UTG 870 shotguns.
